What size battery is supposed to fit these things? A group 24 marine battery seems to be too tall, but according the specs online it's only 3/8" taller than a 27F. :meh:

I ran back to Wal-Mart and looked at the core I dropped off, it was a Group 58 so pretty small. The PO must have cut down the factory battery tie down rods. I appreciate the pic Pighead, I like the dual battery setup.

Sorry if it would help I will crawl under the 69 tomorrow. Although not sure it’s going to be much help when all I have is this…

Realized I’m really not wearing right attire to crawl under just before going to bed.

Were you attired in your evening smoking jacket and monacle?

I say good sir...

Exactly! That's exactly how I picture Jon as he prepares to retire for the evening!
If you are under impression that’s how Jon retires for evening you are going to be greatly disappointed!

Yes! It was a short ride to the end of the street and back (no cooling fans, windshield, or lights), but the kids had as much fun as I did. It actually drove pretty well all things considered, much better than the last time as the rear end wasn’t trying to come apart! It fired right up after sitting for I don’t know how long and I couldn’t resist.

Progress, mostly!

Learned that the Edelbrock chrome oil cap will absolutely let water into your engine. Luckily no harm was done as I changed the oil today thus making the discovery. Also, Zep degreaser works so well it will cause your serpentine pulleys to start squeaking!

Installed a Derale electric cooling fan. I really wanted to get a fancy relay box and thermostatically control it, but I simply wired it into an existing relay and on/off switch for now. The Painless wire harness in this thing is a real pain. I think most of the issue is with the installation, but dang it sucks not having a factory harness.

Did some troubleshooting with the fuel gauge, found it was not grounded at the sender. Now instead of the gauge pegging to its full limit it just reads full. Wondering how much fuel is actually in the tank and if the gauge is the correct resistance.

Ordered some Hummer 3-point seat belts, hopefully they fit. I am worried the retractor is not going to fit with the roll cage, it is worth a try though.

Also, got this $5 window crank. Seems to work, it’s a little loose though.

I think I have a inner chrome handle, if I can find it, it's yours.

If you know someone with a Hotsie (think scalding hot pressure washer) all your clean engine bay dreams will come true!

Also, my battery sits up like that... no issues.
