This 55 build is probably my favorite 55.


This 80 threw me off. I had to look to pause to figure out what I was looking at. I think I love it.

Removed the flooring from under the bed. I need to now make two mounting points for the rear fuel tank strap. Plasma cut in the hard to reach spots slightly over the fuel tank but survived.

Also cut out the rear sheet metal under the bumper to make room for the AUX tank. Once removed I was able to mount the LRA Tank to see how it fits. The plan is to fab a bed slide in the empty space under the bed. There is a ton of room here for tools, recovery gear, camping gear, etc. It will be mounted to the frame and slide out the rear under the bumper and just over the AUX tank. Bought a used Bedslide that I will be cutting down to fit the space. The slide is rated at 1500lbs and extends 75%. It measures 41.5" across from frame to frame and 6 ft in length. Height is just under 8".

I plan on redoing the rear storage compartment as well once I know the exact fitment of the bed slide.

Have most things figured out in my head but still don't know where to mount the 2 way fuel filler tube. Don't like it currently where it's exposed in the bed. However when the slide is mounted in, it will be tight sitting just under the rear corner. I guess I'll worry about that once I'm there.

Yes sir! It's the platform for the RV1 tent.
I also have a 270 awning with walls that will have quick release mounts since I will only mount the tent and awning when I go camping. The entire rack is also removable with 4 bolts.

@2KCruiser What oil separator for the PCV valve are you running? Hate mine and looking for something else.

It's actually just an air compressor water separator/filter that surprising works better than my actual overpriced oil separator in my Supra.

Slowly getting the factory AC parts sourced out and put back in before summer. Replaced Spark Plugs, Wires, Cap and rotor and cleaned up the engine bay and made mounts for the airbox. Aluminum radiator and silicon hoses are next on the to do list.

Maybe I am odd, but when I see inch measurements in connection with an LC I get a little twitch. I'm American and grew up with it, but in the last several years I've gone completely metric, especially with LC stuff. All the dimensions from Mr. Toyoda are metric. Just had a friend pick up a socket set for me at Home Depot in DC when he was back and he had to work at it to get a set that was metric only. I remember when the US was thinking about moving metric in the 1970s.

Anyways, I am excited to watch your project and please ignore the shells I am lobbing down from the peanut gallery.

I brain tends to use Metric when I'm working with smaller scale work that needs to be more precise and automatically switch to standard on larger measurements for some reason. I didn't even know I did this until you mentioned it.

"Standard" ROFL!! Only in the US, bits of Canada and the more backward parts of England and Wales, where they also have Whitworth (shudder!).

I can't even think in feet and inches any more. I hear someone say 1/4-20 and I just want to . . . . well something. I have a 1924 Packard and I know with that one I am stuck with inch dimensions, but given that it will be 100 years old next year I can forgive it that.

....maybe I've been overseas too long
