This rig is pure home-brew awesomeness!!
Appreciate it, still working on which dash to use on it, the 40 which is 2" shy, 55 which I still need measurements on, the 60 which is over 2" longer, a just fab one, or the easiest option to leave the 80 series dash.

Cleaned out the leaf shredder fan.

Chasing down some stalling, idling, and hard start issues that were intermittent. Started first with replacing the fuel pump. Got to say it was the fastest 80 fuel pump replacement I've ever done.

Fuel pump helped with the hesitation and idle cleared up with a ICV swap however the problem with the long cranking remained. After researching a bit here I found what matched my exact issue which was the coolant temp sensor for the ECU. After removal I noticed that the sensor was actually broken. Ordered an original sensor from one of my local warehouses and to my surprise it came in a Volvo bag. Matching part numbers to Toyota. This fixed the issue with the hard starts.

Also took Bacon down to OC a few weeks ago for a little Toyota meet. It was fun watching people try to figure out what the hell they were looking at.

Got this key chain made there as well. Cool little 80's retro machine he had setup to cut the tags.

Next was to install a DC front drive shaft.

Since everything is mostly steel on this rig, the 80 dash just didn't look right. I decided to go with a dash from a 60 series and it actually is almost identical in length. Only real issue is that the 60 series ignition switch is on the column so the 80 series ignition interferes with the dash. So the plan is to just delete it. Most new cars just have a Key Fob anyway, we dont need no stinking keys! I'll install a couple toggle switches for ACC and ON, then a momentary push start switch for the starter. Last pic is what I'm hoping to achieve, but with a side of bacon.

Love it! Was hoping you'd go this route. Why not use the 60 series ignition? Are you retaining the 80 series column?

Yes, keeping the 80 column so I can set my cruise control 😎 pinkys up.

I’m sure you could very easily keep the cruise control. Break out the EWD.

I'll have to wait and see how it all comes together. Not against it, but I kinda like not having a key to start. Kill switch already installed.
