This is what the profile looks from JC Whitney. From what I can tell it's to thick. So we are in seach of a thinner replacement.

And this is where it goes.

I'm assuming A is the part that is to thick?

This is a pic comparing the SOR stuff to the JC Whitney. I used the SOR on my doors and the JC Whitney stuff on the sides for the tailgate.

This profile from Fairchild looks a lot like the OEM

I ordered the weatherstipping above from JC Whitney. Will post back how it does when I get it.

Please do, I am curious.

i bought the complete door set from JCwhitney, all four doors. i was not able to properly close the doors with it installed. its too thick for me but some seem to have used it with success. i am now on the lookout for some thinner stuff.

i was going to use it eventually for when i get around to making the lid and some other parts on my trailer for weatherproofing but if anyone wants to try the JC witney i'll sell it for less than half price, $50 for both pieces on all four doors, i never mounted the piece that goes on the door itself only the body piece.

pieces are sold

Marshall, Fairchild looks like a great resource. Question for all, looking at Nat's photo of the SOR product what would happen if you just took a razor and sliced the bottom open to make it look like the Fairchild example, would this help the door closing issue and still seal?
Fairchild also looks like they do custom work too.

Lou what I have found in my search was that most weatherstripping companies sell the same thing. JC Whitney sells most of the same stuff Fairchild has.

Another note. My 93 FZJ80s front push on door weather stripping has a real thin profile and also has the correct or close to it color. Problem is it is to short. You would have to buy 2 pieces to make one door and you would have a seam. I would buy it if I could get it in a longer piece.

You probably could but it would take a steady hand. And you would be left with a thin area to hold the rest of it together. Probably worth a shot. I'd wait and see what I find with the other profile.

little things but overtime bother a lot!
any sources for the door lock button grommets that keep the door lock button from rattling against the door sheetmetal?
my jack holder is/was a large dry rotted "O" ring that snugged my jack down, it broke and now the jack just rattles around beneath my seat driving me crazy, any idea of sources or solutions for it?

Lou, the jack in my truck is held in place with a small sheet metal thing bolted to the floor and then the jack is expanded between that and the seat support. The "O" ring is for the tool pouch.

I think I have an extra one of those sheet metal thingys if you're interested.

I can also post a picture if you like.

also of note,,, ACE hardware carries rubber o-ring in per ft length... its actually bungee cordage but can be used for many cool things.
i happen to have a couple of these bungees and thought i would never use them again once they rotted, then i spotted the rubber rope at ace, i was happy,, complete again. they are cool and adjustable to any length, just thought i'd share.

Hey just an FYI... cargo w/s is still available from PVCruisers although some may have said it was not. I placed an order on Sunday and it arrived today.

WOOHOOO!!!

Got the door weatherstripping in from JC Whitney today.

Profile compared to the OEM. When I saw this I thought there was no way it would work.

I installed it on the easiest to access door on the 55 in my cramped garage. Used a deadblow hammer to install.

SO the big question is does it work? Yes I'm about 90%happy with it.

With the old weatherstripping the door would close completely without any push. Now it will not. It will catch the first notch on the latch. It takes very little force to close it.

Other notes are the weatherstripping on the top doesn't seal like the oem it actaually seals on the bottom edge instead of the side. I actually like it. The bottom fits really well. Sides are fine. I think with a little more fitting and a little more set it time it will work really well.

What I don't like. The clips that hold the headliner in will have to go. I will need to find a clip that doesn't have a lip on them as it make the weatherstripping uneven. No big deal. Also The threshold plate will not fit well due to the outer lip not being able to go between the two pieces. You could either grind the plate or just bend it.
