I have a bunch of samples that will be here Wed. The T-Shaped weatherstrip according to Rest. Spl. has a durometer of 65, I have 6 ft of the 1 1/2 and 1 inch and 3-4 samples that may work in the tailgate side tracks.

Luke; the 1 1/2 incher seems like it would work, please let us know:cheers:

Here are the samples for the cowl and the only problem is the very narrow glue area and the slight curve but I'll give it a try and see how it holds. Another option would be to glue this to a piece half round rubber that has a 3/8 inch base.
I also have a few track samples, they don't look like they'll work so I'll keep looking.

no go on the cowl to hood seal

:frown: got off the phone with the fellow that I had sent the cowl to hood seal to for a fabbing quote in a durometer of 60-65.
He initially telling me he could fab it in a 70 durometer and when I called today for a firm quote.........he told me that he did not feel comfortable making it in a short run and withdrew his offer to fab it in 70:crybaby:
Lou's strip in the post # 507 above looks promising BUT :hhmm:I share his concerns about the bonding surface being very narrow:hhmm:

so now back to square 1:frown: any suggestions?;

Tailgate side track Weather Strip

Two things, I have installed a sample weather strip in the side tracks of my tailgate, the fit is tight but I'll let you all know how it works over the next few weeks, it is not glued in and so far has not moved at all. I got it from Restoration Specialist.

Second, so far the contact cement used for the cowl weather strip has held up the past few days but tomorrow I'm headed down to IPOR to have my A/C wired and it's about 100 miles round trip so it will get nice and hot , so it will be a good test to of the glue.

Here's what I'm using in the tail gate tracks

Lou,
Do you have a part number and contact info from Restoration Specialists? I only have one side of the track material and would love to replace it with new material and add to the other side.

Great info!

Even if it fails after a bit, it surely is going to be better then the fact that I only have one side to install...
Think I might spend the money to have something in there and if anything better comes up, I'll grab that then. Having none seems to be asking for a broken window and I am weeks away from having the truck wheeling.

Thanks for the part numbers and advice.

I do understand, I'll open my tailgate on sunday and check it. You have to remove your glass to install and simply pinch the sides together and install. It has to be installed from the side of the track, you can't just push it in from the top, and make sure it's sitting square in the track.

This is the Rare Spare images I received. Will work out later what exactly they are. But if you go to their site you will see the item numbers and if you right click on my pics and look at the image code you will see the part number.

RDS3025 I'm thinking RDS3022 is in here also since there are so many pics. I'm also thinking these are the real deal since they don't have the little mounting studs like the ones from JCWhitney that are for the minitrucks.

I was looking for an alternative to the weatherstripping we are currently getting from JCWhitney, Rare Spares has had this stuff for a while but there were no pictures of it. Took me over a year to finally convince them to take pictures of it. There was no sense in buying it from AU if it was the same thing as the JCWhitney stuff. Going through the pics and the stuff I don't see the rear tailgate seal though. Hmmm.

The pics are to see if it is a direct replacement that what we are using now and will work better. It looks promissing but I won't be able to compare the JCWhitney stuff to these pics for a while.

Marshall, the picture with your nail polish, is that the one that goes over the pinch weld on the body around all the doors? That number doesn't show up in the price list.
