Morning Rick-

Going to take you on a ride in the “way back machine”.

Ref: Your door refurb. I noticed in your pic that you didn’t use the 3M tape across the top of the vapor barrier. Are you just utilizing the female insert or did I miss a step?

As always, clean work!!

When I put my power windows in, the top was not sealed from when the truck was built.. I sealed it using butyl tape. there are some air gaps by the door latch FWIW if needed

What page was this on your build thread? Coincidentally I just started rereading it and am only to the engine rebuild so far. Where did you find the vapor barrier material?

The pre cut vapor barrier was purchased from @GA Architect, in fact, the pics are of his door refurb. I pulled them from his thread. I think it somewhere about page 43/44/45.

What the buytl mess, per my door card & nasty vapor barrier removal, looked like this:

Original or not, mine didn't have the buytl across the top. I didn't see the need for the upper area, thus I didn't install it there. Not sure if that is right or wrong, or if it matters....The door card clip plugs (67772-20021) hold the top of the vapor barrier securely, so I proceeded.

Not much to report, just driving and enjoying the seat time in my 40. However, I've never liked how my radiator overflow tank seemed to always have some antifreeze crystallization around the cap....so my OCD-self did something about it.

It took quite a while to find something that would be somewhat a direct replacement for the plastic overflow container and fit into the OEM bracket. Well, I stumbled across this < click here >, a 64oz growler and below is my initial stainless steel version. With a few modifications, it seems to be working. I will make a second version using a powder coated black one and repaint the bracket.

Only in Georgia are you going to find a pony keg under the hood of a 40!

We got BBQ grilles under them hoods in CA! (via Chyna) This is at Topnault's facility in Temecula. There is a red one behind it that is a wine cooler.

A few months ago while perusing MUD, I came across a post about valve cover gaskets. Being I have an '86 2F engine in my '77 40, I use many parts for the '86 2F. One item that I never thought about, was the use of the short valve cover gasket 11213-61011 which is shaped like an 'I'. Note, in order to use the original '77 air intake/cleaner unit, I use is the taller style of VC with the taller VC studs. The taller VC's use the 11213-61010 gasket, which is shaped like an inverted 'T'. Although the 61011 gasket worked for the past 10 plus years with minimal leaks, I will swap it out for the 61010 unit this weekend. I'll be checking the valves and doing a little cleaning.

As you can see, there was a little seepage in the back, but not too much.
