I went out this weekend w/the group that was heading out to Anza............
The weeend started out w/me getting out of the house about 1 hour later than I should have, which made me miss the caravan...... So now I'm driving to a place that I have never been to and only have a slight idea on how to ge there..... After about 3 hours of driving I finally come into Borrego Springs, I have to stop and ask a CHP which way to coyote canyon, after he stops beign a jerk w/me he finnaly tells me were to go............. I get to teh trailhead (*** forget to air down ***) So I'm off on the trail seem faily easy enough..... and then I get to the water crossing, covered my 33's, and the the fun starts the rock gardens to get to sheeps canyon are not as easy as they have looked in the pictures I have seen..... SO I hit the rock gardens and I am aired up @ 38 psi, so lets just say it was a really bumpy ride and after a lot of skinny pedal and a stinky clutch disc I'm into Sheeps Canyon. Get to the campground and I'm looking for Stan, Brent, and Braden but I only see two Range Rovers.......... It is dark, no moon out, now I am worried that I'm at the wrong camp.... While I'm thinking where they could have gone, the night lights up and from the horizon come Stan, Brent, and Bradesn rig lighting everything up......... RELIEF........ Set camp up and hit the sack.......
Wake up the next morning to a beautiful sun rise......... AIR DOWN, and head back to Borrego Spring w/Stan, Brent, and Braden. Drove down the rock gardens and out of Coyote Canyon. Headed over to the XL gas station. Get there turn the rig off, meet and greet all the people that were there. Then Braden and I decide to go get some breakfast, this were teh things took a sour turn. Start my rig up and hte charg elight is on and will not go off....... So decide to try to tension the alternator a little more.......... So grab some tools out of the truck pry the alternator and tighten the belt up a bit, well turn out I pryed on the lower hose....... SO now I have a pin hole in my lower hose, loosen the clamp slide the hose over and try to clamp as low as possible on the water outlet pipe..... It works no more coolant leaking but still a charge light.......... So I decide to head back home, well actually I was heading to my job............ At this point I am hoping my truck will make the trek from Borrego Springs to Anaheim Hills... So I am off took the S-22 to the S-2 to the 79, 79 to the 15, 15 to the 91.......... It opnly took about 3 1/2 hours to get to Anaheim hills..... I only hoped and prayed that my truck would not shut off....... When I got back to my job I load tested my battery, tested @ 50 cca...... Wow I realized that I had driven my truck back on the battery from Borrego Springs.......... Tested the charging system and alternator is not charging....... As I had suspected........ Got a new alternator thrown in there and called It a day!!!!!!!!!
Sorry About the long read!!!!!!!!!
So you guys know, Stan, Brent, and Braden are awesome guys...... They are going to pack my tent up and bring me all the junk I had to leave @ Sheeps Camps........
Thanks Guys!!!!!!!
