Hello:
I wanted to send everyone a note to express my thanks for electing me as your new President of the Upstate Cruisers.
I am grateful for the trust and confidence that you have bestowed upon me and I very proud to offer my service to such a wonderful organization and great bunch of friends. Of course, our club - like any other organization - is made up of people representing a diverse pool of talents and skills. So it is with this understanding that I ask for your support, as you always have, for the goals of the Board of Directors (BOD) and your club.
Speech...speech....!
After being elected yesterday someone jokingly yelled these words out. Of course I was not prepared to offer an eloquent response. So, along with you all I laughed at the request and sheepishly made the best of it by muttering the schedule of events for the next few weeks. But I believe the request is legitimate: Everyone should know what to expect from their newly appointed officials. So with this objective in mind, I want to share my preliminary ideas with you:
• First, I will develop a mission statement for the club with the aid of the Board. The idea is to have a guide and goal that serves as a compass for the future of our club
• The reinstatement of the Club newsletter. This newsletter will be produced quarterly and mailed via PDF (portable document format) to all current members in good standing. The goal of this newsletter, The Towhook, is to communicate the schedule and past events over a 90-day period
• Web Site: This is going to help legitimize Upstate Cruisers as an organization and will assist in recruitment, sponsorships, historical, and current events
• Spotter Program: We lose as many new members as we gain every year. This idea originated by Marshall, is to assign a Spotter to the new members and their responsibility is to watch out for these folks; making sure they are aware of scheduled events, club resources, and their overall wellness. The BOD will nominate a member in good standing to be the Membership and Information Coordinator (MIC) who's responsibility will be these in addition to event safety
• Open Ears: This is your club and it is the responsibility of the BOD to manage your wish. Please voice your opinion of any aspect of the club: From its administration to its events. Let everyone know of new land we can ride on; new restaurants we can meet at, ideas for greater inclusion of spouses and family, etc.
These are only my ideas and I will ask the BOD to meet once a quarter to get their ideas, plan events and take care of other club business.
I'm looking forward to serving you over the next year and expect to grow our club, and more importantly, to have a great deal of FUN and FELLOWSHIP. I sincerely believe that "FUN and FELLOWSHIP" is the greatest reward we can achieve.
