Hi!

Does someone have any idea if there are templates for the OEM raised air intake available?

I am planning to fit the OEM Snorkel but cannot find any source for the template.
It is quite scary to drill and cut without any template.:nailbiting:

Thank you!

Maybe get the fender piece intended for OEM snorkel, paint it, install it and call it a day?

Lol that is so much more work than cutting a few holes.

78 Prados (if you are referring to the vehicle in your icon) never came with snorkels, so there will not be an easy template.
Mock it up, measure 3 times and cut once.

We have installed that "style" snorkel on a Prado before, it is not fun and they are definitely not water tight. Good for raised air intake only.

My comment was based off the OP wanting to go OEM so I figured there was a "pre-cut" factory OEM upper piece already. Also the OP linked to a wide nose 78 series troopy which I thought some of which had factory snorkels.

But hey....cutting holes is always an option too. I don't get the snorkel thing either, just not my cup of tea.

Does not exist.

So is the snorkel considered a port accessory item? No cruisers leave the Tahara plant with a snorkel on it?

I have to ask because it changed some things on the FJ73 I had such as air filter can and windshield wiper fluid reservoir and also windshield frame. Those items were snorkel specific.

Sorry I fully expect the cars are built from the Tahara plane with the snorkel and associated parts as you have detailed above, as such no template would exist.

My bad. I misunderstood who you directed your response to.

Hello,

A 2007-on OEM snorkel may be a better option.

No template to worry about, just measuring and cutting the fender.

Juan

Thank you very much for your answers.

I am planning to fit the 2007-on OEM snorkel on a LJ78. I am aware of the fact, that such a template does not exist.
But even a template for a 2007-on 70 Series would help.
According to toyodiy.com there are two fenders for the 2007-on 70 Series: With the cut-out holes for the OEM Snorkel and without the holes.

My hope was, that there is a Technical Service Bulletin or a template for the dealerships how to retrofit the OEM Snorkel.

Start this video around the 9:06 mark. Maybe that will help. It isn't much...but I thought I would throw it out there.
