My reverse lights seem to come on when I have the FJ40 in neutral (it's a 4-speed manual). They turn off when I put it in gear (other than reverse). I'm sure it's freaking out the people behind me at traffic lights. Any ideas for a quick fix? Thanks.

It is most likely a ground issue, as are most electrical issues with 40s. Or someone has your switch wired in reverse. Remove the bulbs themselves or you can climb under the truck and disconnect the reverse light switch and see if that turns them off. The switch is located on the back of the transmission cover toward the passenger side near the top. It is the round thing in the picture below that is unscrewed showing threads. Note the one in the picture is broken. Once you find the switch follow the harness to find the disconnect.

Thanks John. The lights do come on when it's in reverse but also when it's in neutral. They go off when it's in 1st through 4th. I'll have the vehicle at the tech day on Saturday, so maybe one of our electrical gurus can also take a look. Based on some additional research, it could be a faulty switch.
