It took a solid day to paint four hubcaps so yeah 🐂💩.
Sand blast, clean and bake to remove moisture, Cerakote them graphite black and bake again for two hours, mask all those stupid black spots then mix a color of silver/black that's not too silver and not too black and piaint again, unmask all those stupid black spots then start drinking beer to get rid of the paint fume headache.
I can't get a picture that accurately shows this color but I like it enough that I'm thinking about redoing all my trim in this color.

Great job. If you are that good at painting maybe you could paint the rims the color you want but have the outer 1" graphite black to match the tires........then you just have 15" rims. No more "17 inch" rim problem. :p

Would I be cast into a pit of big butt twerkers if I thought about painting my wheels the same off white as my 55. Just a late night thought.

I bet that would look pretty good - I wouldn’t cast you into the pit.

The white stock steels without hubcaps always looked tough. Back in the day, a lot of mid 70’s Ford “Dent-side” pickups and 78-79 Broncos used to run that way.

I was quietly thinking something on the same lines, dark band around the rim would visually shrink it.

Looking fw to seeing caps on the rims, once your done that

I did think about painting the outer edge a darker color but it would have made the rim look more complicated knowing I planned to also paint the hubcaps, my goal is/was to keep things looking simple even if they’re not. Kind of a recurring theme with this build is to find ways to completely overcomplicate simple things to not draw attention to them. So yeah I like the fact that most people that walk past this pig won’t take a second look at the rims assuming they are just junk factory rims with some spray paint.

My shop lights kind of turn everything a strange color but these are some photos of the rims.

It’s snowing and I have some other stuff I need to get done today but I took the quick photo for you.

So good! Yeah the un-chrome caps did the trick, for me anyways.

No snow here yet, heavy frost this morning though.

If you painted your wheels the same off white as your 55 what would you do about your exposed nuts?
I can't speak for the entire sty but I know more than one of us are tired of staring at your exposed nuts and wish you would consider covering them up.
Just a late night thought!

You could put a fake bead lock ring on the rims to make them look smaller and more hardcore.

I really dig the new color combination. I think you nailed it. The chrome was too much and didn't exist anywhere else on the truck. The caps dress things up a bit without being over the top. And, you've picked a tire that has enough sidewall to be a proper off road tire. I hate seeing 4WD vehicles with rubber bands stretched around their wheels.
