I have an aversion to camping. That said, with all of these events we are going to, I feel I must camp. I am now looking at shelter options. These SUV tent things look like a good idea at least in theory. I searched the site and looks like people are having good luck with them.

I want a balance between expeditionary and comfort. I do not want a trailer. I do not want a roof top tent. I welcome comments.

I’d be worried about all the mud on the cruiser trying to set that up.

I was going to get a mattress for the truck, but I will need to leave the tailgate down. I don't want drawers or platform.

Mud would be an issue!

Coleman has those instant setup cabin tents that don’t look too bad

Build a simple sleeping platform that will allow you to put plastic bins underneath and be level with the second row. I bought one of these I've never used if you want to lay on it to see if it would work for you.

I really don't want a platform, but I'm not ruling out anything right now. I have a preliminary plan; all it is going to take is $$$.
