Suunto Heart Rate monitor watch....??

Anybody have any experience with this watch??

It's available for points from my credit card. I've long wanted a heart rate monitor. I would definitely prefer the watch type. I just want to make sure this isn't a pos before dumping all my points on it.

I have that one. I stopped using it when the HR starting giving me all kinds of crazy readings, I think the batteries were going dead, I have not used it since. I am pretty fickle when it comes ot heart rate monitors, I think most lack durability and it seems like whenever I change the batts in them they are toast. I loved the altimeter function, I thought it was really sweet. One con to it though is that it pressure based, so you always have to reset to your home location, it can be 100's of feet off sometimes. The function I thought was awesome was the feet gained/descended, I really got a kick out of that on mtn bike rides. I would probably recommend it, it's tons better than crappy polars in that price range.

Removing the altimeter from the equation, do you still like it?? I live on the beach. I'm going to be anywhere from 10 - 30 ft above sea level regardless of where I ride down here... So the altimeter, while cool, really doesn't bring a lot to the table for me.

I would say that I like it. If you are going to use it just for HR though it might be a bit pricey, you can get pretty good ones online for <50 bucks that work well. Either way I think you will like it.

Suunto make some nice stuff. I'm currently using a Polar AXN300 but I was between that and this when I bought. I went with the Polar because my gym is linked in with Polar and there was sale on the Polar. I also live in a flat coatal area but I do use the barometer function to check changing weather thrends, you will have to reset your "home" setting frequently to rely on the data. I see your using CC points so this won't cost you any "real" cash but it you just want HR there are less expensive options if you've got somehting else in mind for the points.

Thanks. I'm still a month ~ away from having the points to get it. I'll probably just do it. I'll always talk myself out of dropping the coin on one if I were paying cash.
