Got an 82 BJ60 and have some extensive expeditions planned for the future. The current suspension consists of some saggy, tired looking leaf springs.
Because of the nature of the trips i want to do there is obviously going to be a lot of weight in the vehicle with a rear bumper, additional fuel, gear, winch etc...
A brand new old man emu heavy duty kit would be nice...but the price tag isn't too appealing so i am looking into the man-a-fre add a leaf option. They say in the description of the product adding a leaf will get sagging leaf springs back up to where they belong which is great, but I am also looking to beef up my suspension. Does anyone have experience with this? Any idea of what combination of the long (46") and short (24") leaf's would be ideal for increasing weight carrying capabilities while creating a smooth comfortable ride?
I am thinking of perhaps adding 2 long leafs to the front and 2 long and 1 short in the rear. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you may need to replace the springs anyways if they are really saggy and tired already. What is the difference in price between new OEM/similar leaf springs + man-a-fre and going OME? And no, I don't have any idea as to what you would need to add. There are to many variables. I'd say pick a reasonable minimum and try it, then add more if needed. What have others added and what was the condition of their springs?

The short AAL's are REALLY stiff. I do NOT recommend them. I have a pair that you can have for free, just pay the freight.

I'd start with a long AAL in front and rear. See how you like it. If you need more, add another long AAL.
