Does anyone have experience with Sumitomo tires, particularly the Serengeti SL850 (AT)? I can get them at $175 each in 33x12.5.

I'll be on asphalt half time and nasty clay the other half.

Do you get hydroplaning (pooled water on highway pavement) type conditions in Bolivia? If so, these tires would probably be pretty scary, given how much the tread would interfere with water flowing to the sides or the front/back.

I don't have any personal experience with that brand, though.
 
Yes, we do get pooled water, but it's typically deep enough that hydroplaning isn't a problem. :steer:

It is a very tight pattern. Might not be a good choice for the clay either. I just don't want a full on MT at this point.
 
Can't beat the price, so I decided to go for it and then gave them a solid beating a couple days ago doing 500km through the Andes. So far so good.

That's a pair of good, used 31x10.5 Serengetis on the rack that I want to put on my new trailer after I SOA it.
