Sulfur smell?

Hello again,

I'm the guy with the tan BJ-42, from the Sept meeting, anyway, i just got a stereo installed in my rig (professionally) and as it was driven in, i noticed i was puking out diesel fuel all over the shop floor!, i promply noticed that the manual fuel primer pump was loose and extended, so i popped it back in and done right?, runs fine, if a little better even. BUT!, on a trip down to Victoria the same day (Today) and I distinctly smell Sulfur/Rotten Eggs!, could this have anything to do with my fuel leak or stereo installation?

You may want to pick up a new fuel primer pump if yours is leaking, I got a bosch one the works really well for less than $30. As far as your rotten eggs, are there any rotten eggs in your truck? I've never smelled that from a diesel or a new stereo (If it were a gasser with a cat it would be a different story).

now that you mention it, I remember smelling something like that on my boat a few years back, found one battery actually HOT to the touch ( like scary hot...) and I threw a towel over it and carried it up to the parking lot hoping like hell it didn't blow up in my arms....

not sure if it was a full on sulphur smell, but something like it.

ah, that may be it!, i'm having alternator/battery troubles. This requires some more investigation...

Did you have a dead cat or a dead cell or was it the bean burrito car stereo installer ??

By Cat I was meaning a catalytic converter, but I suppose I dead feline would have a bad aroma. Anyways when a gasoline vehicle runs really rich the exhaust will smell like sulphur because the cat is burning lots of hydrocarbons and is overheating and if the rich condition is not fixed the cat will fail. But this doesn't apply to you...
