Hi Guys,
I have been through hell with this clutch and gearbox on my 1986 BJ74. I have finally replaced the clutch with a HD 4Terrain clutch, reconditioned my slave and master and also installed a new clutch booster. Also, I have had the gearbox reconditioned.
So, you'd think all would be good, and it nearly is.
I had the clutch adjusted by ABS and it was all driving fine, until I took it for a long distance trip.
After going for approx 45mins to 1 hr, the clutch was "raising". The engagement point of the clutch appears to rise, the longer I drive. It got to the point that it was slipping and there was absolutely NO freeplay.
Is there a cause for this? I took it back to ABS, but it was back to normal as I was driving it there, so they had no idea.
