Stolen BBQ grill

Let me start by explaining where we live (Mike & Aaron know). We're in the northwest area of Wichita not quite to Maize, a nice (so I thought) quiet area (Mike, leave the train thing alone) with friendly folks. Wendy woke me this morning asking if I had moved the grill, the answer was "no, why?" She then says the grill is gone, tools, cover, tank and all. Some time between Thursday night and this morning some asshat decided that they needed my grill more than I did. What really pisses me off is that some of the family (dad and the in laws) pitched in and gave it to me for my birthday in Sept. After trying 8, yes eight different phone numbers I was able to get a heartbeat from Wichita PD to give them a report. Said report really does no good since they don't care and the value isn't enough for it to be a felony. We hadn't gotten renter's insurance yet but that wouldn't do much good since the deductible is $500 and the grill was $600. I asked around the neighborhood and no one saw anything. It doesn't really surprise me because now that it's cooler out they stay in doors. For **** sake we moved from NJ to get away from s*** like this. As soon as I had a cup of coffee I went out and cable locked my trailer as well as the tongue. Why would someone steal a grill when there was a $1000 trailer sitting in the driveway? Sure the trailer has a VIN # but the grill has a S/N. I just can't quite figure out what in the hell motivates some of these people. I hate to think that I have to keep my grill in the garage or padlock the thing on my patio. F*&^@$CK!!!!!
Sorry needed to vent a little.

Man! That just "burns" me up!
You should call the west substation and "light a fire" under somebody.

If I weren't so tired I think i could come with more.

Seriously tho, that sucks!!!! Do you have the serial number or model number? If so the pawn shop detail may be able to track it down if it's pawned. Other then that I'd say it's one of your neighbors.... or a hobo riding the rail and using it to warm the box car.

That sucks man.

I dont get it. I had a buddy that moved here from Kansas City, KS and he hated it, crime all the time.

He bought a house in a NICE little neighborhood full of OLLLLLLDDDDDD retired people and a week after moving in, his garage was broken into and his welder, tools, grill, tires and wheels, and some other stuff was stolen.

He was beside himself.

I know it sucks and yes, it sucks even worse when the cops dont care. It used to be a felony in KS once the amount hit 500 but they changed it some time back to $1000.00 to make it a felony I believe.

It really frosts my cookies because where I grew up in Upstate NY (near Saratoga) we almost never locked the house, left keys in the cars, etc and my dad still lives there and no screws with anyone. Hell, even where we lived in south Jersey folks were respectful others. I remember several occasions where one of the neighbors knocked on our door because we left the light on in one of the cars or the garage was left open. Oh well, screw me once shame on you, screw me twice shame on me. I'll keep a closer eye on the people that come down our cul de sac.
If it weren't for being married I'd be in a smaller town or up in the mountains somewhere. Too bad it's a little to rural for Wendy.

Crime is everywhere man.
A list of what has been stolen from me & mine. Dads house broke into, guns jewelry. Most recoverd and convicted, my suppsed friends. Dads home garage, tools & tires. My work. Snap on top chest full of tools, recoverd and convicted, former emploee. CB radio from rig outside of garage. Tires & wheels from parts rig over in Greenwood county. Rear window shot out in fj60.
I caught someone stealing firewood from the neibour over to Greenwood county. told him to put it back. Plenty of wood around there.
I called WPD about a pickup in the alley. They were gone afore the law arrived. I figger I'll block em next time. Then I'll be hit fer kidnapin...
The fella next door run some scrongers off in the alley. Then a couple days later I ran one off. He lives a few streets over.
So I would suggest to start snoopin round close.
Good luck, Don P.

OH! I forgot about my son Derrick. His bike got stolen right off the front porch. It was a Mosh. Real heavy duty BMX bike. We spent time lookin at the local BMX track and other ride spots. Never found it. Lock stuff up. At least it'll slow em down.
C ya, Don
