I am thinking about having a set of stock wheels custom widened. Can anyone give me some recommendations/opinions as to the amount of width that would look good and fit an LV with a 2-2.5 inch lift using OME springs? I can have the additional steel added to the outside or inside lip or both if needed. I like the factory hub cap look, but I think a little extra width would look much more aggressive vs. the tall skinny stock width. forgot to mention the diameter will be 15".

Although I've got 16" chevy wheels on my LV, the wheel offset is the same as a Toyota and the tire I'm running is the equivelant to a 31x10.5. I've only got about 1" of room between the outter sidewall and the inside of the fender well, so I'm not sure that widening your wheels is the thing to do. TLC puts 33x10.5 15s on almost all of their restorations so I know it will work on a stock Toyota wheel.

if you read back through the wilma thread all of the info is there regarding widened wheels, what tires will fit and lift..
basically it comes down to this anything wider than a 10.5" tire and a stock rim your are going to have rubbing and or contact on the rear fender. there is not alot of room between the rear fender and the frame by trying different tires and setups and lifting the lv body on 2x4's up off the frame. i figure I need 4-5" of lift to run a 33.2x11.2 on 4.5" bs 16x8" wheels without contact issues. you will need to run the top of the tire a few inches below the bottom lip of the fender, if you want to run a tire bigger than 33x10.5. so if that is the case you need 4-5" of lift.
so i am contemplating seriously a SOA that would give me 5-6" of lift.

Jason, thanks for netting it out to me. it sounds like i will not be worrying about wider wheels and just get fatter tires bc i do not want to go for the huge lift although i do think it looks really coo. i just think it would ride like crap and i personally don't want to have to use a step stool to get in and out, plus the wife and kids would bitch.

Treeroot, what are the tires you mention? I will do some googleing. Any pics?
