My wife has a n 07 FJC that has the basic stereo in it. 2 speakers in the doors and the 2 in the headliner above your head. My question is is it possible that the truck is wired for the 2 speakers in the back and just not have them? I know I have seen speakers in other FJC's in a location at the back of the truck. I woild like to add some speakers if possible.

It is possible. In the six speaker setup, the roof transducers are wired in series with the rear speakers.

Jeff, mine has the same basic stereo setup ('07 too) and the wiring is there, but not very long. I had to make some jumpers and used spade ends to connect them. You'll need some small hands or some long needle nose pliers to reach down into the quarter panel and grab the harness. I bought some cheap 4" Fosgates and it was a definite improvement.

Thanks guys! I know some mfg's do run the wire. Any tricks to get the panel off where the speakers go? My guess is that it just pops off.???

Yes, Jeff, they just pop off. Use a plastic panel remover tool if ya got one. You can get the real speaker panel covers from TEQ or you can do what I did and just use a compass knife to cut a 3-4" hole in the blank panels you remove. I had grand plans to cover mine with speaker cloth, but apathy prevailed and I decided to just leave the open hole.

I put new door and rear speakers in. Confirm the wiring is there and short. I used toyota panels ordered from American Toyota. Just changing the front speakers made a world of difference. The toyota speakers had a magnet the size of a quarter, literally. I'm not a stereo guy but it was well worth it.

what speakers did you use in the door? i've wanted to replace mine too but not sure what type to get. 1 way, 2 way speakers, 3 ways etc.. with the small dash speakers would a 3 way speaker really be needed seeing as how the high end sound is coming from the dash speakers anyways..

I really don't remember what moedl they were but they are 6" round Polk Audio. I'm pretty sure they're 3-way speakers. Pull up your dash speaker covers and have a look at those speakers. The speakers that Toyota put in these are total crap. I literally couldn't hear the stereo going down the highway. I'm not a stereo guy but this had to be done. I also put in a GPS/DVD/Stereo later. Currently it's a Kenwood version that is REALLY bright at night.
