Hey guys,Just getting used to the new cruiser, cleaning it out, making a list of repairs / wishlist , ordering parts, etc etc.

One thing that I'm not sure of:
When turning at low speeds in 2wd, I can feel a click in the rotation of the steering wheel, maybe three to four clicks, evenly spaced, until it's nearing full lock or the turn is complete. It makes the same click when I return the wheels to straight ahead.

I'm new to cruisers, so I'm not entirely sure what this is - could it be birfs? or should I look into the steering components?

I'm ordering a full knuckle rebuild kit with bearings from Kurt at cruiser outfitters very soon - looking forward to tearing into the front end and tightening up the steering - so I'll take a good look at them when they come out. Anything in particular I should be looking for?

Other question is regarding springs - the ones in there are flat. completely flat. I want to hold off on an OME, so im looking for cheapo repairs in the meantime. I'm contemplating Add-a-leafs, but my friend offered another solution:

He's got a stack of old 40 series springs - says to keep the main spring out of the 60 pack, and replace all the others with "fresh -er" leafs from the 40 series packs. I dont know if this is a good idea or not, 'cause frankly I've never heard of anything like it before - If any of you have any advice on teh subject, I'd be glad to hear it.

All the best,
Crash

another soloution for the springs is spring over axle it will give you a lift but you might have too make adjustments to your steering mabey more

I don't get how FJ40 springs could be "fresher"

Try starting with the longest 40 spring you can fit into your spring pack.

Your steering sounds like the noise could be in the box. I've never pulled on apart to know what would make the noise.
