steering arms

I looked around and couldn't find the tork setting for the 40's steering arms. Does anyone have this number.

Are you referring to the knuckle arm & Knuckle bearing?

for 1964:

"Tighten the nuts attaching the knuckle shaft and knuckle arm to the knuckle to 40~60 ft-lbs."

Center arm?

Pitman arm?

64 repair manual says center arm:
"Tighten the center arm shaft just enough to allow the center arm to turn freely."


Sector shaft x Pitman Arm:
120~140 ft-lbs.

Sector shaft end cover bolts:
15~25 ft-lbs.

Knuckle Studs and Tie Rods (Values differ depending on the diameter of the stud)
11mm- 40 - 60 ft#'s
12mm- 62 - 79 ft#'s
Knuckle Years:
Pre 1979 were 11mm
1979 and later were 12mm

Hey Poser thanks for the response.
It's the 4 bolt patern on both sides. and I do believe that the PO put a 84 -89 mini disc conversion on my rig. I just looked and the socket/nit size is 17mm so I am not sure of the stud size.
I think if I tork to 70flbs I will be OK.
Just need to check the tork for Rubithon. I guess they are checking this year.

I just put new seals and bearings in my axle and had to do this, 40-60lbs is correct for 40's pre 79.
