Hello everyone. I have an '85 FJ60, 157,000 miles. All stock. Starts pretty easily, after a few cranks and some gas. Always let it run a few minutes before driving away. Within the past couple of days, as soon as I go to take off.....stalls. Just as I give it gas. Everything looks to be in place, but what do I know. Any thoughts wold be greatly appreciated.

Choke staying closed?

If you stab the gas and it stalls, it may be the accelerator pump in the carb. If it is the accel pump, you should be able to slowly roll on the the throttle and it stays running.

That's all I've got for now...

Like Kavik says, look at the accelerator pump. Take your air cleaner off. Get a flashlight and look down into the throat of the carburetor while someone else presses the accellerator pedal in a pumping motion. The engine should be off. You should see a squirt of raw gas going into the carb throat. If you don't, its time for some carb work.

Right after I got my new gas tank (from the recall) I had the exact same issue. Toyota techs said it got clogged somehow so they blew out the gas line. Haven't had any trouble before or since that time.
