Hi There

I owned my FJ 2009 for the past 3 years. Got it from the dealership here in Saudi Arabia where i am stationed. It has 65000 Km. Has been running great with no issues.

This evening as i was leaving work it would not start. I would here a " tic tic tic " noise.
Checked the battery and tightened the " negative " connection as it was loose.
The batter indicator is " blue " which means it is OK.

We tried to jump start and it would not start.

The inner lights still work very well. I do not think it is the battery. Any known issues with the FJ starter ???

I had to leave it behind in the safe parking lot at work....Very weird for Toyota renowned reliability and a fairly new vehicle.

I wouldn't presume the battery is fine, I'd remove it, take it so that you can have it checked.

But, if it won't start with a jump from a running vehicle, it should be something else. Have you checked all your fuses? More info will be needed to help much more.

As reliable as "most" Toyotas are, things still break, its not unbreakable...

Does it actually turn over? Fuel pump or blown fuse/relay would be two other things to look at?

Ended up being a battery. The original factory battery lasted 3.5 years, 70 0000 km with the A/C always on in the hot Saudi weather.

Strange we could not jumpstart it...I guess really dead battery

Another Toyota high reliability issue ...All that I can say

i live in the hottest part of Florida, 3 hours from any coast. and its is super hot here over 98 for 4 months usually. and many days 100 plus and 100% humidity. i have learned over the years batterys dont last in the heat. lucky to get 3 years on a good one.

Just for future reference:
In a no cranking situation to deterrmine battery condition turn on the headlights then with someone watching or looking at the reflection hit the starter and if the lights go out or dim to almost nothing then check the battery or connections. if they do not change then you are not drawing any load from the battery and it is most likley the starter or solenoid that need attention.
Hope it helps someone in the future!!!
