just tried starting the ole jeep the other day and it's been sitting so long now that all I drive is the fjc...and I had to charge the battery. Well with a full charge 12.7volts on two optima battery still no start...voltage running thru solinoid the starter was clicking but not ingauging... pulled the starter and replaced with a napa new rebuilt (garenteed for life) and low still will not start. I directly run voltage to the starter from the battery and it does not turn over. Bad to starter or what:confused:

Take that NAPA Crap back and get your money back. I went through 7 of those damn starters on my old 40. They take em back, and 'rebuild' them. Who knows what's going on with NAPA, but I don't buy s*** from them anymore.

How long has that battery sat there unused? Tried swapping the battery out with your Cruiser battery to check for a start?

MEAN GREEN..... Starters, alternators..... check into them. Well, if you plan on keeping the heap that is.

Cluth froze to the flywheel, and trying to move the whole works of water in a cylinder will not compress. I had both happen on an old CJ5 I had

Throw a socket and wrench on the crankshaft bolt and try to turn it clockwise. Turn it a half rotation, then try the starter again. If it still doesn't catch return the starter! Before you walk out the door with it, have them operationally check it!

sounds to me like the problem might be insufficient ground supply.
take a jumper cable and attach it from the starter housing to the chassis or the neg. side of the battery. very quick and easy thing to try. good luck
