Hi guys- I just started to notice a squeaking sound that is audible from inside the car when i am making a hard turn in either direction, both as I am making the turn (towards the end of the turn) and also as the wheel straightens back out after the turn is completed.

The sound itself is hard to describe but it feels kind of like something that should be greased has run dry allowing rubbing to occur.

While I am thoroughly obsessed with my cruiser I am admittedly a novice when it comes to wrenching so keep that in mind and thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Have a look at @RobRed thread "steering wheel squeak be gone" if your noise seems to be coming from the steering wheel area.

If it's the same thing mine does, it sounds like it's coming from the steering wheel. Sounds like a dry bushing or something in the wheel scraping the column. Haven't taken it apart to look yet.

Thanks @PADDO I found that thread and I am going to try this and report back. Sounds like this could be the cause.

Is it still there if you turn the wheel when the car is completely stopped? Hope it's not the CV joint.
I will try this and let you know- thanks in advance!

How many miles? can you hear it outside with your head out the window?
Its a 2000 with 75K. I will try this and report back- I have a feeling it may not be audible from outside the vehicle.
