What symptoms will you see with the P0500 code besides the speedometer not working?

TTT---Nobody??? I am wondering if code P0500 will affect transmission shift points?
I have the same CEL code but my speedometer works. I just don't have cruise control...which sucks during long drives.
I have the trip computer out & speedo not working. Cruise doesn't work either. Shift points are fine, RPM is fine. I use a GPS app on my phone for speed, but would rather have it working. Mine is a AUD import to UK 4.7. Checked the VSS on the tranny but it looks OK. Suspect it may be in the original owner's conversion of KPH to MPH. Hard to find out.
