I have had a SPEC clutch installed. I have driven over the required 500 city miles to break it in. When engaged the clutch makes a grinding noise and will chatter. The same thing happens in reverse and the whole truck will shudder. When I shift into second gear, the clutch seems to bounce once causing the truck to jerk.
As background information, the FJ is super charged and chipped. My other two vehicles are a MINI Cooper S and a ’83 BJ42. I do not have any problems with their clutches. The stock clutch was great but slipped under load.
Any info would be great. I am probably paranoid and the clutch will get better but .... Has anyone else had this problem and is it normal?
Thanks

That is certainly odd.

I have had clutches have a shudder to them until they have been broke in, but it doesn't sound like there are good things going on with the grinding and chirping.

The only accounts I have experienced with grinding and chirping with the clutch is when there were issues with the throw out assembly. Much beyond that, short of listening to it, it kinda hard to tell exactly what your issue is.

Hope you get it sorted out....

I had a spec clutch in a mustang and the clutch was fine but the throw out bearing was crap. After doing some research i found that this is a common problem.
Maybe something to look into.
