Ok so im getting ready to upgrade my stereo system in the FJ...I know that there are live wires behind the blank panels in the rear of the truck so I was planning on cutting holes and wiring up 6in speakers...but what size goes in the doors...everywhere I go I get a different response, 5 by 9, 5 1/2, 6...so what is the stock size, and the tiny speakers in the dash, are those just tweeters or little speakers...any input is appreciated thank.

so no one has upgraded their stereo system?

ya thats a cool mod...I wonder how difficult the install was

should be simple enough hardest part would be pulling off all that plastic. Pain in the A**

The speakers in the front doors are an odd size and junk, as are the rest of the speakers. I replaced all of mine with JL Audio and the difference was remarkable. You'll need more power too.
I replaced the speakers in the dash and rear pillars with 3 1/2 full range that are driven by the O.E.M. FJammer, the doors are driven by 2 channels of a 4 channel amp, and the sub is being driven by the other 2 channels bridged into a mono signal. Sounds fantastic at any sound level. Without the outboard amp, I was able to drive the stock amp into distotion at about 55 or higher on the volume . Not anymore.
Hope that helps.

thanks man what size did you replace the door speakers with?

I found some really nice plastic 6"x 9" adapters on Ebay motors. Just type in FJ Cruiser in parts and accessories. They use the factory mounting holes. Beware of the adapters made from MDF, they won't hold up to the elements.

thanks man
