Saw this in the post about club news, figured it might need it's own thread, if anyone is planning on going.

I'm probably going to go. Will be a bit (lot) more crowded than I like, but that's life.
I'm just waiting to hear back about the 20% off discount and I had some questions about volunteering at the event.
Will post again when I know for sure and purchase my tickets.

A group of club members attended last year and plan to do so again this year. 😊

Well keep me in mind when you start planning for this one.
I'm 2 hrs from either Thomasville or Tallahassee (different routes obviously).
So maybe I could meet up and ride down with the group, if you're going to do that.

Will do …

Before I order my tickets (today), what day do you all plan on going down and what day coming back?
I'm thinking going down on Thursday and coming back on Monday, but not definite yet.
Mostly don't like driving in the dark, don't like being rushed, and don't like being late.

Last year, the group went down on Friday and returned home late Saturday. Unless the event has unbelievable growth, that’s plenty of time to see everything. 😊

Did you do the offroad course? (not the obstacle course)
Was it worth the extra fee to do? How long was it? How crowded was it?
Did you attend any of the seminars? Sounded like some interesting ones, but not all of them sounded interesting.

I'm not big on congregating with 5000 people, all trying to be in the same place, doing the same thing.
I haven't purchased my tickets/camping spot yet.
Maybe I'll head up to Little River Canyon instead for that weekend for some peaceful tailriding and camping.

A number of us attend the annual 70 Series Meet & Greet at Windrock Park in East Tennessee (which checks the box for all things off-road) so we didn’t do their prepared course. Based on the crowds, and YouTube videos, it was however fairly popular. In a nutshell, we simply attended to hang out with friends and check out the vendors.

Thanks for the tip about checking out the YouTube videos of the event. I didn't even think about that.
It looks like a interesting event. But it doesn't look like my type of event.
I'm going to pass on this. But I hope you guys have a good time.
Let me know when you plan something more 'in the woods'.

I've scheduled myself a different event for the weekend of 28 Feb - 3 Mar.
Headed up to Cheraw, SC to the dirt/sand roads in and around Cheraw State Park where they will be running the 2025 Sandblast Rally.

Sandblast Rally is a car and motorcycle race run primarily in the Sandhills State Forest and H. Cooper Black Recreation facility in Chesterfield Country, SC. All of the racing is against the clock to see which vehicle can complete the course in the lowest cumulative time.

Me and my son used to go every year, but I haven't been over there in a good number of years. It really is a 'Blast'.
All the 'special stages' are on dirt roads and can be pretty muddy if rainy, but mostly they are sand.
Sand berms can pile up 3 foot deep or more on some of the turns.

Look forward to seeing some photos.

Buried our 2wd F-250 with skinny street tires there one time.
Tried to back the truck into a side cut and only got it half off the road with the race about to start on that leg.
Worked like demons trying to shovel the soft sand and stuff branches under the back tires.
Got it out with only about 2 minutes to spare before the first car came blasting thru.

Will be taking the Cruiser this time, and sand tracks and tow straps. But still don't have a winch installed yet.

Will be interesting to see just how many people I still know after all these years.

I'll be heading to SAVE Friday to Monday. Look for a blue HZJ77.
I’m not sure what time Friday we’ll roll in, but we’ll look for you. 😊
