Big huge thanks to Doc and his steady hands for helping out this afternoon.
For interested parties, we attempted this repair to the ABS brain on Judith's Passat:

The circuit board you see is 2.5 inches long. I could barely focus on the wire that needed solder. We were not successfull, but it was sure cool trying.
