ok 2 weeks ago I sold my really nice 1997 lx450 that just sat and took up a covered parking space, in less than a week I had acquired a new to me 2000 lx470 nice southern truck from second owner with all the records and TB done in the last 3k miles... then last night a guy around the corner called and offered me his "hunting truck" a 1996 80 series gold edition 200k, old man 3" lift, big tires, stainless borland exhaust, rear swingout tire carrier, winch & bumper, roof rack, highlift jack, hella lights, no dents to speak of... anyway this is my first "built Cruiser" that my 13yo has already claimed as his... so now at the house we have 4 3 100's and the 80 stupid i know... looking for a 12 step plan now....

I am in the same boat you are. I bought my first Cruiser in 2009 and was able to curtail the addiction until 2014 when I bought two more 100's in the span of nine months. Finally decided this year to get rid of one of the 100's and get an imported diesel 80. Lots of fun, but the addiction can get out of hand.

What is it about these Land Cruisers anyway? I purchased my first one 4 months ago. Within the same week I almost bought a second one, just because it was so nice. It also had the rear locker like mine, I actually picked up the phone and started to call the guy and buy it. I will have this 100 series for a very long time, I love it!

Small disclaimer:
I already have what most (maybe not you guys) would call a 'car problem'. I am only 40 and I have owned 26 cars since turning 16. The longest I have ever owned the same vehicle is just over 2 years (My current tuned BMW 335i with 450 whp/480 wtq)

We're having one of those "nature vs nurture" debates, on Land Cruiser addiction, in my house.

We took my (18yo) son's LC to the dealer over the weekend. Of course, while we wait, we have to go look at the shiny white 200 series on the floor, and I hear a "Dad, I think you need to get one of these"

Our neighbor across the street brought home a "new" 80 series last night, and I hear a "Dad, I think you need another 80 series."

A great kid, but maybe a bit of a bad influence. No "new" cruisers in my driveway..... yet.

I fail to see the problem.....
I have a vehicle problem too...I've got 5 runners and 2 projects...yet I still look at classifieds every week for another land cruiser because i only have the one...for now...

Eh you could do worse. These trucks really don't depreciate much. I'm casually looking for a 60/62 restomod, and also considering swapping out my german daily driver for a 200 series. And I won't sell the 100.

Not only have I been on the cruiser train for about 20 yrs... I like many here have my own list of converts.... not every car/truck is for everyone BUT you will never lose a friend convincing them to buy a cruiser... just put one friend in a really nice 2005 lc and he smiles every time he drives it... I have not been happy with my last several german purchases (except my German Shepard he's the best) and I hear this from all except my 911 friends the BMW people all seem to have problems and the build quality on the Mercedes is not what it use to be... jmho

I could see myself getting an 80 soon, but next year though.

I think the wife is going to want a newer LESS miles 100 for herself before this is all over, lol...

She wants a Tesla but it's WAY over our budget!

Nope not stupid , it's a great hobby (beats chasing a little white ball around, I seem to cuss less wrenching anyway ;).

On the Tesla, our medical examiner still drives an original Tesla with no issues, but sticks to in town driving after a out of town trip left him sweating the last 25 miles ( both charge and having to lose air conditioning in july) They never really grabbed me. Make it a 300+ mile range and 5 minute recharge then the instant torque of electric would have my attention.

They're rolling out a $35k model next year:
Model 3 | Tesla

...maybe it's to compete with used land cruisers. I'd find a place in the driveway if a steal fell in my lap. There are worse things to collect. Hard to justify though. It's not like you need multiple in case one's in the shop.

I bought a new mustang Gt in July, love the car......but I'm looking forward to turn it for service ( front brake squeal tsb) so I have a legitimate excuse to drive the lx to something other than a hunt or camp. You outrun them in the pony, they make room for you with the lx

Funny how every time I find a really nice cruiser for a reasonable deal... I have a friend who says "you know I think I'd like to have one... if you find another" or "you ought to let me buy that from you" thats how I lost the near perfect lx450 out of my drive last month BUT i got to replace it with another 80 and a 100 :) funny how that works
