Hi, I've got a soft top in dire need of repair, the plastic (glass) is brown and some of the stitching has come apart on the top where it attaches to the windscreen and around the top of the windows.

Its a really good top which opens/rolls up to look like what I think is supposed to be a bikini top and I cant find any like it for sale.

I'm not sure wether I should take this to get fixed ( quotes around the 400-500 dollars or try and DIY it)

I paid 2000 for the car so its like 1/4 of the cost and I really need to do the brakes on it.

Has anybody got experience fixing these with no experience, should I try find a freind with a sowing machine or just bite the bullet and pay up, just seems like alot of money for repairs?

I'm completely new to softtops and fj40s so any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

Here is a link to a pic of the back, cant put any more up yet:

if you do choose to spend $$... i'd look into a bestop(used?).. its not like what you've got is stock anyway

Hmm, I've had a look at bestop but they dont make any tops like mine which I really like, think I'll just keep it rolled up or off for now until winter rolls around
