IF anyone want to go I am driving solo. I'm leaving Friday between 12 and 4. Coming back on Monday early evening.

Hittin' the road now. 467 Miles and 8 Hours till Happy Hour!

Incredible event! A must do for anyone at least once. I'm already planning for next year! I'm thinking OX13 followed by 2-3 days of "overlanding" back to GJ checking out the Grand Canyon and beyond on the way back.

A lot of club members made it down. I saw Doug, Matt and Amy, Ace, and Hugh and Kelly. We had a great presence. If I missed anyone let me know. Thank you all for your incredible generosity, I was obviously not ready (packed the car the morning of the event and forgot tons of stuff)

Thanks for the slim-jim, hot breakfast, fire pit, marshmallows, beer, DonQ, Elk, more hot breakfast, boarding, toothpaste, jacket, more beer and most of all friendship! You-all is good people!

Glad you enjoyed it Jonathan. This was my fourth OEX and I was called up front during the opening ceremony as one of a very few that had attended all the Expos and we were given a free admission to OEX13. I was very surprised by that.

The venue was an improvement over Amado in many aspects. The Camel Trophy driving challenge was quite cool and fun to drive. The classes were about like last years but the classrooms were poor with no sound system and lots of noise from the restaurant right below. I'd like to see a major revamp of the teaching format with longer classes. Too much is crammed into 55 minutes so that many students said they learned very little. Example was advanced navigation taught in 55 minutes when it should take several hours. But I suppose people that attend the classes that have had very little prior experience find them valuable.

For me the best part of OEX is the vendor show and all the cool vehicles on display (or just sitting in the parking areas). I was pleased to see many new trailer builders there. The highlife for me and Matt too was a super cool all aluminum trailer called the Xtender that at a quick glance was not much different than other well known small trailers but when you looked closer it was truly amazing and 100% customizable.

This has been a great, if busy, week with the NMBR trip Silver City to Morman Lake almost 600 miles of which about 360 was dirt, followed by OEX12. Then next week a few of us are going to explore the Arizona Strip.

^ That's awesome about the free 2013 admission. I think it's important for attendees to voice their recommendations, criticisms and praises of the event to the officials when a feedback section gets posted on the site.

Glad you had fun. Did you check out the Earth Cruiser? Is it as cool in person as it is in my head? I hope so!!

Hey, I scored a cool old lawn chair and a broken down cooler for the Relic Run. I'm excited, can you tell?

The Earth Cruiser was incredible from the outside. Unfortunatly it did not seem to be open for interior tours, and I didn't ask for one. Pretty important when trying to build a brand. Lance was always talking to someone and I didn't want to interrupt. I'll send you and email with more thoughts and pics.

VMI Offroad!! Totally stoked for the new trailer!! Amy and I are headed to Washington in August to have bumpers, sliders, aux fuel tank, Northstar/Blue Sea Aux. 12volt system, and finish designing the trailer. We will also be testing a trailer for a week while we are there.

Expo was awesome!! So looking forward to 2013!!!

Matt, you got to do a test tow? How cool is that! I really like that trailer but more important, at least for me, was their attitude and willingness to build to the customers specs. Great folks!

Spent this week up in the Kaibab Plataeu exploring the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, a truly awesome area. Photo at Point Sublime.

Ace, Their attitude and customer service was the deciding factor for Amy and I also. Awesome picture from the North Rim! Wish we had the time to go with you guys!! Had to cut our vacation short by eight days, a few fires back in Aspen to put out!! Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Offroad Show next weekend.

Matt
