Latest progress report. Sanded back some old cracked and f**ked paint, bogged the low spots and got a coat of primer on there.
Happy with progress so far, although abit slow..

So I brought a FJ45..Without the misses permission..

Wait, are you saying there is an optional way to purchase one? I was not aware!

Haha, I had the same train of thought!
It was to good to pass up for the price, so I jumped on it!

So I have pulled the roof off-and the PO had decided to drill 3 holes in the roof to mount an antenna, so I'm working on patching those up atm, fibreglass and metal reinforced body filler to finish off(as I can't weld-and this is a budget build).
If it cracks/pops first gravel road I go down I will have learnt my lesson!

Pics to follow:

Haven't update this post in awhile, so thought I should!
Have still been working away in the shed, and have managed to get the roof , bonnet, side steps, windscreen hinges all off to the sandblaster, and they are now nice and etch primed and ready to go!
I have also found myself a nice old original ARB winch bar which I have reconditioned and got powder coated-and an old scholl WARN XD9 winch which I have rebuilt also.
Buuut, I now have a 10week old son, and time in the shed is limited-so I expect a slight pause in proceedings until further work is preformed.
watch this space.

Firstly, nice 45, and good work

Secondly, I'm sorry to bring this up, but, I think you need something other than a GU if you intend to tow a 45 around :grinpimp::hillbilly:;)

I bought my Troopy the same way, the only difference was mine showed up on a transport truck in my driveway while I was out of town. I have a question! If you would have asked her would she have said yes? If she's like my wife she would have said no! It's worth a few nights( or months) on the couch!

Haha-I don't intend to tow the 45 around very much! Just to get it home-then to the paint shop Im hoping(ive now decided that I cannot be stuffed painting it myself, due to the potential off having to re-sand all these panels again!!!:(:(

You know what, She might have said yes-but most likely would have given me 100 logical, and financial reason why not too-so I would have ended up seeing the light and caving in.
So, Like any good impulse buyer-I just went and did it!!

Right-o,

I have been working away, and got the ute stripped down as far as needed to get paint happening.
I had decided, and found a guy, to just get someone to paint it for me-I just couldn't afford the hours and hours...and hours of prep work need to finish it myself.
Progress so far:

Loads of genuine door seals and things, managed to order a lot of them through work.
Had trouble finding that last inner door runner though.
