I'm planning on being in Bozeman for this weekend (Jan 1 2022) and was thinking I would like to go out for a drive. Always good to go out with friends. Not sure on a trail just yet, would depend on the weather and conditions. I'm thinking somewhere in the tobacco roots. Open to suggestions.

Who else might be interested? Depending on who comes, where we end up, and conditions this could be one of those very long days. I've been wanting to bury the Lexus in snow to see what its really capable of.

Ill extend the invite to anyone whos a club member, but ill put the disclaimer that it may be a poor decision to follow me.

I hope somebody brings chains. Have fun!

I might be able to make it. Will know more next week as well.

I am trying to swap days off so I can tag along on Saturday. Is there a destination yet?

Edit- Nope, I have to work Saturday.

So im open to suggestions. but there are too routes that i have in mind.

1. The old start at the Norris Gas station and head our way on the county road to the Revenue flats. I was thinking it would be fun to try and make it into one of the back corners where we were picking up trash earlier in the year and see how far back there we can make it. Its a lot of wide open roads with no trees but this would be good if we have multiple vehicles for towing and winching people out of the drifts. The wind can make some pretty decent drifts on this road. We might get shut down super soon after Norris or we might make it all the way to the top of the mountain. well turn around and head back the way we came either way.

2. Drive Bridger canyon and start flathead pass on the far side. Again, wide open country roads that get some pretty decent drifts this time of year. We can expect wind. This would be a nice day drive past the ski resort with some drift busting at the end. I kind of doubt well make it all the way to top of flathead pass but we can certainly try.

These are two places that I know will be open access this time of year. I'm still brain storming. Less capable rigs should be fine following in the middle of the convoy as long as the lexus is building the road. but were all gonna wanna have good recovery points.

I also considered some places up little bear canyon but IRCC the gate is closed Jan 1. ill look on the FS maps later to confirm

I won’t be able to make it. The wifey got the Rona so we are on house arrest, I mean quarantine. Have fun and be sure to take pictures when you can!

Me either. Enjoy it out there.

Didn't happen if there are no pics. ;)

Ended up in the park. Went for a drive with a couple rovers guys and a bunch of people who work at Rivian. My dog drove the FJC though the Roosevelt gate.
