I am still new to town, but I was wondering if anyone was planning to go play in the snow we have coming down.

If not will anyone be attending Safari LTDs open house tomorrow? It would be nice to meet some members. (I know I need to make it to a meeting!! Sorry :crybaby:)

This is what my 80 looks like.....for now.

I'll be at the open house tomorrow as will several others. It might spur an impromptu Snow Run! Also be on the look out for a planned snow run in Jan/Feb.

I'll be working on the calendar based on the notes from the last meeting this weekend.

Cool. I will be there.

Fellow Toyota Nuts-
The time has come for the annual Snow Run! Hugh and Mitch will plow the way to the tops of Glade Park and westward towards Tom's Canyon and other areas. Expect to encounter 1-2' of pow pow and and any number of winter conditions. Expect to spend a full day out and as always please ensure you have provisions to ensure a comfortable nights' stay out in the elements should things go sideways, i.e. boots, clothing, blankets, food and water. Meet up at the Conoco station this Saturday (1/12/2013) at 24 Road and Patterson for a departure at 9:00am sharp! See ya there!

Looks like we could get a bunch of new snow next couple of days. I think I'll throw in a snow shovel.

With lots of snow on the ground and more predicted I'd say we will be doing a lot of rescue strapping. With that in mind I think it would be good to set up your snatch strap attached to your clevis on the back and bungied to the back somewhere. Lots easier now than on the trail fumbling around with cold hands in 2' of snow.

Herd from a couple of sources up in the GP area and it looks like we will have somewhere between 5" and 10" of fresh from last night on top of the existing! First Tracks!

Sounds like fun. Realizing anything can happen on a snowy trail, best laid plans and all that, is this planned as an all day event or is there any chance of catching a certain football game mid-afternoon?

12:30 on the AM dial? Game start's at 2:30? I assume we will be out and about till at least halftime. Mitch and Hugh are running the show, take it up with them. :flipoff2:

Sounds fun but my cruiser needs some attention before I head out with it. Got my winch installed but need to relocate my solenoid.

Hey crew. This is Mitch. I don't post to often due to my awesome computer. Thank you Jonathan for picking up my slack. I went to the trail Wednesday to check conditions and drive part of it. conditions are perfect for the stock to mildly built rig. With the added snow it should be perfect. The trail has just enough hills and side slope to make it fun, but not too dangerous. We do have a couple of options if the first part of the trail becomes too difficult. The trail is an in and out for those who would like turn back early to catch the game. See you all in the morning!

You don't need a working winch, make it happen!

Just checked the weather at Glade Park: right now it's -2 and the high will be a whopping 12 and cloudy. Did not give wind chill but it's probably cold to freeze the boabm, so dress warm.

Seven of us played in the powder today and all got out with no mishaps. Will post some photos later. Great run and thanks to Mitch for leading.

Awesome time in the snow

I had a great time today. We had excellent group of drivers and trucks today, which made the day. We started out the day at the turn from the ittle Dolores Rd. and had a fair challenge to climb up the hill the road that connects with Tom's Canyon. We connected with the Tom's Canyonb RD. At around 1:00 so we decided to continue on. Everyone had a chance to break trail. We decided to split into two groups near the end of the day since a few of us had to get back to town. The snow was perfect for a little challenge without too much carnage.

Some photos from today's snow run.

More snow run pics

Three more pics...all pig-centric for some reason.
Thanks to Mitch and Hugh for a good time. Jason gets my vote for best driver with those old school tires and no chains on the Tag-A-Long pig.
