Is this an open invitation?
My daughter and I talked about this yesterday - we plan on going up to Gorman Monday AM to see some snow if the forecast doesnt change.

the SVRA is definitely a possibility. There are actually quite a few trails there, some steepish stuff I'm told (not seen it yet). Plus you can take the kids and let them drive... :D

I may also try to go check out BC109. That one I'm guessing should be open. And may try to go check a few of the trails either around Pine Mountain maybe. I might just call the rangers and find out what's open.

I'll gladly try and meet with somebody if you are interested.

now, it looks like there will be rain/snow showers tomorrow and snow showers Tuesday as well. Highs about 35F.

:hhmm: more likely it will be late monday night or early tuesday moning :bang:

hat

Yeah that would suck cuz Im working Tues night! :o

Yup, the forecasts have changed. It's now likely there won't be anything today, more likely tomorrow.

hmmm... not sure what to do.

Interestingly, you look at accuweather.com vs weather.com and you get different forecasts too...

Yep.
We got the sun peeking through the clouds here. Looks like pancakes for me ...If I can, Ill try to at least go to the SVRA to get some dirt under my veins before I start work tomorrow...

Hatman what yah seeing over at Pine Mountain Club? :D

they call for wed, nighttime ,thu, fri, sat, 31*(11:30 Am) and blue sky :)

Simi Valley just had sprinkles all morning.

Who's in the snow?

just got back - nothing remotely wet. got less than a mile from the svra entrance and the wife wanted to turn back. it must have been the narrowing road to the area. oh well. i hope i can go back thurs - off a day - by myself.

weekend ?:hhmm: hope so maybe 1/2' or more fun:steer::bounce::bounce2:

Well Sat would be a recuperating day from a night shift if I dont go to Philos1 cleghorn run that Sat morning. If ever I wake up it would be late afternoon or Sun Ill be back.

Im just sick of sunny days during winter time - one reason I left Arizona.

I was hoping the wife would feel adventurous and go to the SVRA - but a change of mind in her part - the kids were up to it though.

they do predict some snow for tomorrow (and tonite?)

a bit more on Th, maybe Frid and sat but looks like it's gonna be sunny again after that?

no snow tonight i think for sure thu,and fri, maybe on sat, too:)
this morning 6am was 14* all day did not get over 40*right now (7:11PM) 30.2*

well, I may be able to go tomorrow if work allows and if there is snow. I think the SVRA should be fun with some powder on. If no snow, I'll save it for later this week.
If I am going, I'll try to monitor 146.46 in case somebody else is there too.
Or if you plan on going, send me a PM by tomorrow earlyish (by 7am) and we can exchange cell numbers.

latest as of 8:15 am Tuesday:

Hungry Valley does not appear to have snow yet. They think they may get some later on this week. They did say however that they may close the park if the conditions get too bad (not today clearly), so a call early at 8 may be advisable if snow is abundant when you decide to go.

Frazier Park has had a sprinkle apparently.
Chuchupate station has maybe an inch. The ranger station confirmed that all trails around Frazier Mountain, Alamo etc are closed. There is more snow at higher elevation.
OTOH, on the West side towards 33, things are open at the lower elevations, in particular Dry Canyon (aka BC 109?). May not be any or much snow there, though, although playing in the boulders with snow would be great fun.

shoot, I may not go today then.

anybody wants to go Thursday or Saturday?

Im trying to find a place to snow camp saturday night. No real luck as of right now unless i want to drive up to the Sierras. :( Everything down here is locked down for winter. So dumb.

I wouldn't mind heading out to Gorman Saturday if theres snow and they let us stay :)
