Has anyone got any experience with the new winch made by smitty bilt going for around 300 dollars? Darn Cheap. Rated at 8000 lbs. I know that name has been bought and sold over the years...

i bought one. i'll let you know when i get a chance to use it. everyone thinks their 20 year old warn with no cable is gold and the last time i bought something at a discounted rate because it was new, i was very pleasantly surprised (aussie locker...remember when they were $149...i got two).

they are made by milemarker. i have friends at 4wpw who tell me the solenoids fail (well, guess what....other winches' solenoids fail too. just upgrade when they do) and that a couple have come back for drum gear issues. we'll see.

i ran a ramsey re8000 on the 60 for years (bought that at "sale pricing" also...369, years ago) and i used it once on the trail and countless times to pull fence posts and pull rigs up my driveway, so i can't see spending $1k on something i most likely won't use. i don't wheel that hard that a winch sees regular duty.
