Here it is in a nutshell:

One friend gave me a generator with a bad gas engine. Another friend gave me a gas-powered pressure washer with a good engine but bad pump. The gasoline engines on both pieces of equipment are the same.

I am trying to swap the good pressure washer engine onto the generator. The problem I am having is I cannot separate the generator armature fron the end of the engine crankshaft. It had a thru-bolt from the end of the armature shaft into the end of the crank, which I have removed. I then tapped the hollow end of the armature shaft with a 3/8 nc tap and attached a slide hammer, but I cannot get it to budge. What am I doing wrong? What will separate them?

Don't really need this generator but I like to fix things........

Any small-engine gurus out there?
