Besides being light/fast, I just don't get the why people are interested in them, especially the no gear thingy...![]()
No gear == No need for service !
At least that is the main reason for me. Not to mention, it is a lot lighter after you getting rid of the cables and derailleurs. Though, I admit my commute is short, I only ride to my bus stop (2 miles each way).
Mine do have brakes just in case!

I don't get why some people are riding slowly and the second you pass them they start riding like they're Floyd Landis on steroids trying to pass you(me)...I'm talking about while commuting and not in a race.
What would you do when that happens???
You start pedaling like mad, like Lance Armstrong going after women half his age, right?
LOSERS!!!![]()
I don't have that kind of problems. I live in a suburb where cars travel fast and street lights are dim. Cycling in my neighborhood is pretty much recreational purpose for a perfect warm weekend. People here are not used to bicycle commuter - I have had obnoxious teenage drive by and scream at me; and a "nice" old lady insisted on escorting me all the way because of the poor street lighting, blocking all the traffic.
