Has anyone used this stuff in their 100's?

I'm going to take Big Gray in for the 90K service shortly; timing belt, water pump, and about 40 other smaller things. Based on what I'm reading here, I'm going to convert to Mobil-1. And now I'm wondering if anyone is still using this stuff or not.

Any recommendations?

Snake oil, pass.

Any particular reason that you think you might need it?

Oh yeah, don't.

Long time ago I did use it, but not in my 80 or 100. This was before I educated myself on the M1. Now all my trucks and autos run Mobile.

Slick was a neat product in it's day, but now an outdated product.

I agree . . . SNAKE OIL. PTFE was never designed to go in an engine. I own a pice of a chemical distribution company. One of the things we make is extreme high pressure metal to metal lubricants. I asked our chemist one day about Slick 50 and he had nothing good to say about it.

I guess the no's have it. Thanks for all the input. I went to BITOG and the bit about Lucas Additive kind of scared me. Kinda freaky how close those gears can get to oil without ever really touching it. Anyway, I'm never a fan of pouring things into places just 'cuz it can be done.

I am surprised Slick 50 would still be on the market after the big lawsuit and settlement. It is not good for your engine.

Good idea switching to synthetic oil. You should also consider improving the filter. As the filters we use are a 50 year old design. I suggest adding a magnetic filter to catch all the small metal particles that the standard filter can't catch.

You can either put one in a cooler line or as a spin on adapter. Take a look at broncograveyard.com or bossproducts.us.

If you keep the oil clean, you will run cooler and longer.

Later.

How about just dropping a small magnet in the OEM filter before installing ? or just putting it on the outside of the can ?

The amount of wear metals is extremely small.
