I've been thinking about getting a pressure washer for occasional use around home. I've never had or used one. I like the idea of electics, low cost, simple, small etc. but I'm afraid the low water output would drive me nuts. The gas washers are big, expensive and noisy but more effective.

Any mudders with experience with these tool, please share your thoughts.....:hhmm::idea::cool:

I consulted my neighbor who owns a pressure washing business before getting mine. GPM is the most important factor. I have 2700 psi 3 GPM Devilbiss with a Honda engine. I run it at a fast idle and it does a really good job on decks and cleaning the house. The cheap electric ones you get at the big box stores usually do not hold up very well. Also, I personally don't like mixing electricity and water together.

I need one too - my research - so far... indicates the cheap stuff is and a Honda GX gas motor and a Cat or Comet pump are desirable.

It is hard to beat a Honda Motor adn a Cat Pump.

When looking at a pressure washer, decide if you want Hot Water capability. Many on the market will allow would to connect to the drain on your hot water heater and use hot water through them.

When sizing a pressure washer, there is a simple method of thinking about it.

Take the GPM and imagine that amount of volume being in a bucket.
Take the PSI and imagine that being how hard you throw the bucket at something.

I know, it is kinda basic and borderline redneck way of thinking about it, lol. But would you want to get hit with 8oz glass of water at 100mph or 5 gallons of water at 30 mph?

Skip the electric and get the gasser. I had a husky electric, wasn't really happy with it and it s*** the bed after a year. The RIGID with the Subaru engine looks pretty sweet, I was about to pull the trigger on one when I found a B&S floor model closeout that was too cheap to pass up. Last time I was in HD they had a couple floor models at good prices, I think this is the time of year to get a deal on one. I think the best are the Honda and Subaru engines with the CAT pump.
