Wife and I are going to Phoenix in June for a work conference and we're driving the 2016 LC200. She likes taking easy trails like Boreas Pass in Colorado and I'm happy to oblige, but I've never been to Arizona at all, so I don't know anything about what's around there, much less Phoenix. I've taken a few 30-minute periods to search here and see what I can find, but most of the information is near a decade old. I've pulled up trailsoffroad website and got some good info there, but it's hard to tell which are really the most appreciated "you don't want to miss this" spots. Can anyone help me nail down a few single-day, leave morning get back evening, type trips?
I've also heard that the drive up to Sedona is worth it? Is there a single "you gotta do this one" trail experience we could do in a 10-hour period considering it looks like a 2-hour drive from Phoenix to Sedona and we'd also have to drive back in the evening?
P.S. - I'm running BFG KO2's, stock suspension, no sliders cause we don't hit a lot of hard things in swampy Louisiana. =) I always carry necessary recovery gear like bubba rope, hitchlink 2.0, 2 maxtrax.
