Whats a good measurement in mm of shock up travel?

Leaf sprung over setup

My shock has 350mm of overall travel and at the moment i have it setup with only 85mm of up.

Thoughts?

These kinds of measurements are totally dependent on how you have set up your suspension + a multitude of other factors.

Remove the shocks, twist your truck up as much as possible (jacks between the springs and frame etc.) then measure your total travel compressed vs extended then find a shock that will fit - or can be made to fit.

Zoltan what shocks are you running? I am really limited with these OME shocks, not getting near as much travel as I should be getting.

i was running 5120 bilsteins but now i have the new Locktup redback air shocks.

The billys had 300mm of travel whereas the redbacks have 350mm.

Ive moved the mounts now with it set up with 120mm up travel. Works out to be 35% up and 65% down.

I think that's probably a good mix. A droop-based suspension tends to perform better off-road than a compression (ie: too high a spring rate) based suspension when you're going slow.

If it's a high speed machine (ie: Baja 1000) then you probably want lots of compression travel.

My SOA trucks have all been about droop and not compression.
