I am a loser and forgot to take pictures but I towed my boat with the 80 for the first time and I am really impressed. I know the 1FZ FE is no horsepower king but with all that torque on tap it does quite will. I was pulling a 19 foot ski boat/trailer combo that I believe weighs about 4500 lbs. I have not weighed it officially though.

I would even say it towed it better than my Expedition I used to pull it with, with one exception. Steep grades at highway speeds it wheezes and lacks the V8's high end. Surprise, surprise. The rest of the Cruiser so far exceeds the quality of the Ford that I consider that a very small price to pay. I also noticed that the boat/trailer moved the Ford around a good bit more than the Cruiser. One benefit of all of that weight Mr T built in and armor I have added. Besides I have the wifes Hemi powered Heep to fall back on if neccessary. :D

Nice to know..... Have towed the travel trailer 3000lbs several times with the black cruiser and agree they have lots of torque and pull nice, but just don't try and go real fast or go up hills.... I was amazed too that it towed better than my full size blazer with a 350.

Just a thought I would love to see how the new toyota 5.7 does towing, it is going to be a nice swap in a few years when the price of the used ones drops....hopefully they have a transfer case that is similar or a trans that will bolt to our cases..... I would love to have 300+ hp and 400ftlbs in an 80 ....

I tow the scout troop trailer very often. Had it weighed and it's a hefty 3500lbs. No real problems, but don't expect speeding tickets up any significant grades!

You can say that again. Being a longtime Toyota freak (16 years with the venerable 22RE pushing 35's) this is a dragster comparitively. :D I did notice that I had accidently hit 72 MPH going north on the 5. No grades mind you but hey that is enough for me. Any more and I would just get myself into trouble.

That would be sweet indeed! :grinpimp: Keep it all Toyota and with a much higher cool factor than anything made since 1998. Sorry Stan. :flipoff2:

We do learn to be patient loving Toyota trucks like we do.;)

The 80 series is a beast.

You can say that again. It never ceases to amaze me. I was worried about it living up to my SAS 4 Runner off road. Now I know it kicks ass off road and on. Lucky for me I don't feel the need for speed. :D
