service at 5k or when?

I own my FJ Cruiser since 2 month. Toyota is proscribing a service each 5000 miles but the Toyota Dealer in Germany where I bought the rig, told me to do the servive at 15.000 km (+/- 9300 miles) My local Toyota mech here in Luxembourg also said to do the service at 9000 miles.
With my old HDJ80 I also have the service at 15.000 km.

What you're thinking about and when do you do the service?

new 2010 use full syn oil 0w20 toyota does say you can go 10,000mils unless its under harsh condition like below 0 F or 90s f and over. or off road. but the light will come on every 5000 mils but you shoud rotate tires every 5000 mils. but thats just in the hope to provent cuping

I do have 5W30 synthetic oil in my 2010 model.
Rotating the wheels? Hmmm I'm switching between 33" BFG MT on 16" rims and Cooper Discoverer ATR on 17" rims, so I don't think to rotate.

I would change the engine oil and gear oils after ~1,000 miles. There will be particles that build up from the break-in for the engine, diffs, t-case and manual transmission (if you have a manual). If you have an auto tranny, don't worry about the fluid change. After changing all the fluids, go on about the normal maintenance intervals.

the engen is brken in at the factory. but if you are useing full syn oil you can go longer between oil. ther is nothing wrong with changing more often.

factory says synthetic oil change w/ filter every 10,000 mi with a rotoate every five. non-synthetic oil and filter every 5,000 mi and a rotate. dont even wory about the diff and t-case oil untill 30,000 mi.

What you're thinking about and when do you do the service?

Syn lubes everywhere, change the M1 in the engine, tire rotation and balance, with fresh grease.(diffs go 30K with synlube)
I could go longer, but I think the tires and the grease need to be refreshed sooner than later.
There is a lot of grease on board on a LC 80 and LC 62 series.
In addition, the tires loose their balance and need to be redone before 10K; so if you expect great life and ride from your vehicles; and I do IMO, 6K is a good number for me...........gm

I've also got a 10 but sure find the "Maint Reqd" idiot light distracting for the several months before the oil hits the next 10,000 point. Does anybody know how to manually reset that idot light?

with key on put it on trip A turn key off and holding the butten when you put the key in to the on position with out turning the fj on you will c dashes counting down. if its not trip A its on reg odomater.

Does anybody know how to manually reset that idot light?

1. With ignition on, set the the trip odometer to the main total odo setting, i.e. not Trip A or Trip B.

2. Turn ignition off.

3. Press and hold the trip odometer button with one hand.

4. Turn the ignition all the way on (can start the truck if you want), while still holding the odo button as in #3.

5. You will see some bars in the odo display count down. Keep holding the odo button down until the countdown is done, maybe 5 seconds?

6. When the countdown is done, you may release the odo button and you are done.
