Bad Coco
GOLD Star
Next Placer County FOTR work party info.
Dates: Friday, September 19th and Saturday, September 20th 2014 from 0830-1600.
Location: Access road from end of Rubicon Estates to Tahoma Staging.
Items needed: Long pants, gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, boots, sunscreen and bug spray as needed.
The Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, LTBMU, has agreed to provide chipper equipment and employees to run it, to help support FOTR’s efforts in collecting the hours needed to meet the requirement for Placer County’s grant funding.
What this work party will entail is bringing all the slash that is along the access road from Rubicon Estates all the way to Tahoma Staging to the chipper and the Forest Service personnel will take care of chipping it all for us. This puts all the liability with the Forest Service for chipper injury or risk of fire.
I hope this will accommodate the many people that have said they want to volunteer their time, but are lacking a Rubicon ready vehicle to get in to the deeper work parties. There is no need for 4WD vehicle and even a Prius can make it to this one.
I need a count of expected volunteers for each day so I can relay that info on to the LTBMU contact. Even if you can’t commit to the entire day, every little bit helps. Don’t forget we get to count our round trip from home time as well.
If there is anyone that can offer to cook in Staging or where the quads get rented out, please let me know and I will coordinate getting food for you to cook.
The grant time period is almost completed and we are still in need of hours. There is only 1 more FOTR work party for the Placer County to be held at Potato Patch, but we are waiting on the completion date of the contractors before we can schedule that one. It should be an easy one. We will just be placing the rock along the discharge of the energy dissipater. The rock will be along the sides, and we should make short work of it.
If you have any questions feel free to call me at 530-401-0800 or email me at firemedic (at) Wildblue (dot) com after this weekend, as I will be with the Wheelers for the Wounded until then.
Thanks for your continued efforts to keep the Rubicon open!
