Anyone have any cool upgrades to the rear area for securing cargo, and for securing a fridge? I'd like to be able to get to a destination and remove the fridge (thinking about a dometic or arb), and other gear and then put it back in and secure it easily. I still have the third row seats, and I think I want to keep them in for now. I thought about adding a finished false floor. Would use a sheet of baltic birch cut to match the contour of the floor, and cutouts for the 3rd row to latch into place, then secure it to the vehicle by bolting it to the 4 existing tie-down points. Could attach some track style cargo management to the false floor. Curious what you guys without drawers, and fridge slides are doing to secure coolers, storage bins etc in the rear.

I made a false floor for the base of my storage platform. I used birch and covered with carpet. I removed 3rd row seats and mounted the sub floor into the seat mounts. You should check to see if there’s clearance under the seats for a piece of plywood...my guess is no.

I have a low-tech solution using turnbuckles:

I’d like to have drawers and a slide but we use our third row often so I only remove them when camping.

Thanks RT - would love to see a pic of your subfloor if you have one. Did you remove the carpet, or leave it in?

Cool Idea with the turnbuckle, tbisaacs. If there was one more pair of tie-down points in the center line of the vehicle, that would probably be enough to tide me over for now. One thing I like about leaving my 3rd row seats in, is when I lower them down, and leave the backs down, and lower the 2nd row, I get a really nice sleeping platform for 2. The exped megamat duo fits perfectly and fills the entire rear.

Left carpet in. No pictures, sorry. Let me know if I can help further.
