When I purchased this LC, one of the rear seat back covers was loose, and finally liberated itself completely. Three out of the 5 clips were broken in half… I’m not sure how others have tackled this issue, but after giving it some thought, here is the solution I came up with.

First I found some of those square stick on things for zip ties, in my marine parts stash. they have a pretty good sticky side built in, so I tried that first. It held for a few weeks, then the Texas heat let the adhesive fail, as I expected.

So i salvaged the square items, and used my belt sander to grind off all of the sticky and foam on the back. I then used some JBweld all purpose quick set that I had laying around and really glued them on. Wrap the zip ties around the rod that the clips used to cling to. Strategic placement of the square things helps. Using extra long zip ties (again pilfered from my marine stuff) was optimal, as it allows you to get everything set up before you cinch it into place.

Once you have the lid, or cover, or back where you like it, slowly work the zip ties in to tighten them up, clip off the ends of the zip ties, and bingo, done!

nice work! mine had a bit of torn pleather on the bottom, i used some "goop" adhesive to fix it. Worked great and dried clear. Then I proceeded to break the clips trying to get it back on. Luckily you can still buy the clips from Toyota.

I had thought about some way to replace the clips, but that involves pulling the upholstery off, and re-riveting the clips, or small machine screws? And re-gluing the upholstery onto the board. These look like a problem, and ready to fail, and barely hang on to that bar anyway. I decided this solution to be the quickest, and possibly better than going with those OEM clips. I’ll give a report over time, if this fails or not, but it looks and feels pretty darn secure.
